This generous contribution is poised to make a profound difference in the lives of food-insecure community members in Southern Deschutes, providing essential nutrition support, hygiene kits, and administrative resources.
The grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation comes at a critical time, as communities grapple with concurrent challenges such as food insecurity, rising utility costs, and illness. SVDP La Pine’s food bank, located in central La Pine, serves as a lifeline for thousands of individuals and families in need, offering a wide array of perishable and non-perishable items in a grocery store-like setting.
Run entirely by volunteers, except for key managerial positions, the food bank not only addresses immediate hunger needs but also serves as a platform for employment training, empowering individuals to transition into better circumstances.
