St. Vincent de Paul

La Pine is a small community located 30 miles south of Bend.
Our per-capita income is far below that of our neighboring communities.
As a close-knit community we know and feel the needs of our neighbors.
And, there are so many in need.

The Heart of Oregon Helping Those In Need

WHO WAS ST VINCENT DE PAUL?

St. Vincent de Paul (1581–1660) was a French priest who is known as the patron saint of charity.
In his honor, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in 1833 in France.
Currently we are operating in over 140 countries.

We aspire to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope, and joy.
Thus, we are always shaping a more just and compassionate society.
Although the Society is a Catholic organization,
our volunteers and employees are open to anyone who believes in Matthew 25:35-36:

“For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat:
I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink:
I was a stranger, and you took me in:
Naked, and you covered me:
Sick, and you visited me:
I was in prison, and you came to me.

Our goal is to provide compassionate care and critical services to residents and neighbors of La Pine
who are struggling to make ends meet.

All of the donations we receive serve the people of the greater La Pine area.

As Charles Dickens so carefully noted in his book A Christmas Carol:

Mankind is our business…
The common welfare of mankind is our business…
Charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence is our business…
